For my design thesis, I chose to put the skills I learnt at the Ontario College of Art & Design to use, by designing movie props, Also known as "Graphic Design for Film"
The adaptation I chose to base my thesis on is the novel/film "Valley of the Dolls" written by Jaqueline Susanne in 1962, and was later made into a film starring Barbara Parkins, Sharon Tate and Patty Duke.
Dividing the project into 4 parts: Brand Development, Poster Design, Package Design and Newspaper Editorial, each design was chosen from major significances mentioned in the novel Valley of the Dolls.
Brand Development- Designed logos for companies that were mentioned in the story. Law Firm, makeup company, a Fine dining resteraunt and a night club.
Left: Brand for law firm, Bellamy & Bellow
Right: Application of the Brand placed in the 1967 adaptation "Valley of the Dolls"
Poster Design- Three different styles of poster making;
Broadway, Movie and Magzine
Package Design - The two packaging designs of artifacts that played a major role in the storyline: Pills also known as "Dolls" and Makeup from Brand Gillian Cosmetics.
